System Thinking: The Cognitive Skill of the 21st Century

Thursday, September 19, 2024

Look around you, and you’ll see: life as we know it is becoming more and more complex.

From the iPhone in your pocket to the organizations driving public health, national defense, finance, criminal justice, and [insert just about anything else you can imagine], the world is powered by increasingly intricate systems working behind the scenes to integrate countless moving pieces into a meaningful whole.

System Thinking is a skill that helps organizations examine and simplify complexity, recognize patterns, and create effective solutions to challenges. In MIT xPRO's five-week online course called System Thinking, learners apply system thinking to improve the performance of their projects and participate in a project management simulation to apply the concepts learned, and engage in activities to contextualize each concept.

In this free and engaging webinar, you will hear from one of the course's faculty, MIT's Professor Ed Crawley, as he presents on System Thinking and who can benefit from it as well as a live presentation from the MIT xPRO course team as they discuss:

  • What you will learn in the online course
  • Who is involved in the course
  • How this course is delivered
